I can hardly stand by to give the beginning of this meaningful race and to see the drivers take on the amazing Le Monitors circuit."

During the authority pre-race function, LeBron James was given the French banner by a fighter of the second Marine Infantry Regiment (RIMa) from Champagné (nearby La Sarthe district). He then tended to, in French, the drivers on the framework: "Pilotes, démarrez vos moteurs" ("Drivers, turn over your motors").
